Gärten der Welt (Gardens of the World)

The award for the open-air stage as part of the project “Gärten der Welt” (Gardens of the World) in Berlin goes to...

The open-air stage is a landscape element in the expansion area of the gardens of the world and is currently in the third stage of construction. It uses existing topography and is embedded into the landscape through subtle modulation of its surfaces. Only the curved roof – which will later be fully covered with grass – is positioned slightly above ground level. The structure consists of the central stage and the two flanking backstage areas. The roof of this area is a shared shell roof that forms a shallow arch above the landscape. The green area of the park extends onto the roof of the structure, forming a slight hill in the existing topography.
